Monday Cheers; Bring On The Masters!

Windy Shell Houston Open

Paul Casey gets his first PGA Tour win in a playoff. Casey had his long and short game working. He was tied for ninth in driving distance and tied for second in birdies and putts per greens in regulation. If he can bring those stats to Augusta this week he will be in the hunt come Sunday.

J. B. Holmes sank a great par putt on eighteen to go to eleven under and take the clubhouse lead. His tee ball in the playoff gets wet and he is done, along with his chance to play at The Masters. The wind made eighteen a real bear on Sunday with a scoring average of 5.1.

Fred “Boom Boom” Couples went boom, boom, and boom to finish. Three straight bogeys to finish killed his chances at winning. Still, Fred is in good form for his return to Augusta National.

Lincicome’s Shot of Her Life

The Masters isn’t the only place with traditions. The Kraft Nabisco Championship winner always jumps into the pond after accepting the trophy for the LPGA’s first major of the season. Brittney Lincicome splashed into the pond after she eagled the eighteenth to win. That’s the way to win a major; eagle to win by a shot! Her approach shot into eighteen was the shot of the day, bar none. She hit a hybrid 210 yards over water to the green and watched it roll to four feet. It was all over then, except for the splashing. The LPGA is fun to watch even if Lorena or Paula aren’t contending, give it a watch!
