Tiger Loves The Fourth of July

by Jeff Skinner

Looks like Tiger is planning his own special Fourth of July celebration. With his four under par 66 on Friday, he took the lead from buddy Anthony Kim and leads Rod Pampling by a stroke. This could be bad news for the field at The AT&T National. In 37 PGA events where Tiger held the 36 hole lead, he went on to win 31 times. Woods did say he was going to be a selfish host and try to take home the championship for himself. It appears he is a man of his word.

While you’re celebrating our greatest national holiday this weekend with parades, barbeques, fireworks and golf; yes, golf should always be part of our celebrations, check out this website for Aim Point Technologies. These are the guys that provide the graphics of that”red spot and the blue line” on the putting green that show the correct line of the putt during the telecasts. I think this gadget is absolutely great and I didn’t realize how involved it is to setup for each green. Aim Point founder Mark Sweeney gives a good overview of how this technology came to be. Did you ever sit down after a round and tell yourself, “I should have made one more putt?” The pros do it too. Check out this chart from Aim Point. It shows how much additional cash each pro would have earned if they made one more put per event. The winner, or loser, depending how you look at it is Sergio Garcia. If Sergio made one more putt in each event he would have taken home an additional $2,527,900, and maybe his first major championship.

Enjoy The Fourth!! Fly your Flag have some BBQ and take a minute to remember those patriots who put their lives and fortunes on the line for a vision they had 233 years ago: a vision of a free and democratic union of states. I’m not sure they would recognize “the colonies” today, but these United States of America is what resulted from that act of signing The Declaration of Independence so long ago.
