No Tiger, but Plenty of Golf

Thankfully, there is real golf news this weekend and not just on the front page of The National Enquirer. It is heating up at the PGA Tour Q-School as the players start their third round. Troy Merritt leads by a stroke in what John Feinstein calls “the best kept secret in golf.” Rickie Fowler shot a 68 to move up to a tie for eighteenth and former world number one, David Duval, fell into a tie for 39th. Out in Thousand Oaks, California, eighteen of Tiger’s pals were playing his tournament while trying to avoid controversy when asked about their absent host. Zach Johnson and Ian Poulter share the lead at -4 in The Chevron World Challenge. Poulter doubled the last and had a pair of three putts on two par fives to turn a 64 into that 68. The LPGA is also holding their Q-School this week and Jane Chin and Nikki Garrett share the lead after the second of five total rounds. (LPGA.com coverage.)
