They say you can’t win a major on the first day but you can certainly lose it. Michelle Wie may have done just that with an opening round 82 at the US Women’s Open. She opened with a bogey on her first hole (10th) and went on to card three doubles and a bogey for a 43 on her front nine. It only got slightly better on her back nine (front 9) as she shot a 39. There wasn’t much in her game that looked in form as she only hit four fairways and six greens in regulation. It will take an impressive turnaround on day two for Wie to be around for the weekend.
