Shin Tops Tseng & Lewis at Mizuno Classic

by Jeff Skinner

The LPGA continued its “start and stop” season this weekend in Japan at The Mizuno Classic and a familiar name took home top honors again.  Jiyai Shin regained the number one spot in The Rolex Rankings on Monday and confirmed her ascent with a two stroke win over Yani Tseng.  This is Shin’s second win this season and her eighth since July 2008.  Shin and Tseng (two majors this season) along with five time winner Ai Miyazato, are the face of golf on the LPGA Tour.  For all you fans that need an American to win every week I suggest you switch to bowling.  The Asian dominance on The LPGA Tour is here to stay, get over it.  That being said, I was thrilled to see Stacy Lewis play well all week and finish solo third.  Lewis is one of a handful of young Americans that represent America’s hope to revitalize the American presence atop the LPGA leaderboard.  Until they start to win more frequently LPGA watchers should learn to appreciate the great golf these women play and not worry about someone’s home country.
