Tiger Done in by McDowell

by Jeff Skinner

Things didn’t quite work out for Tiger Woods today but then again this whole year hasn’t worked out for El Tigre.  Woods started the day with a four shot lead at his Chevron World Challenge and quickly squandered his cushion with two three putts early in his round.  It came down to Woods and Graeme McDowell going mano y mano all day.

McDowell stole a page from Tigers book on how to close out a tournament.  McDowell holed a twenty footer for birdie on the eighteenth to send it to extra holes.  Then he twisted the dagger by sinking a twenty five foot birdie on the first playoff hole. When Tiger’s birdie putt rolled wide McDowell had slain another American.  His putts were strangely similar to the one he sank on the sixteenth hole in The Ryder Cup.

McDowell has had a dream season and today he killed another American’s dream.  Tiger’s comeback will have to wait until next year.
