Bubba Watson had to withdraw from The Northern Trust Open due to a strained stomach muscle after he posted a first round 76 testerday. It’s unfortunate for Bubba as he has been playing well and was still riding his high from his win at Torrey Pines. It’s also a bummer for us as The Golf Channel had Bubba “mic’d up” and we were getting plenty of chatter that we normally would never be able to hear. Bubba had mentioned to Freddy Couples that he had been at the hospital on two different occasions this week for tests to determine the cause of his pain. Bubba is one of the most interesting personalities on the PGA Tour and getting a microphone on him was a great idea. Hopefully, Bubba won’t be sidelined for long and we’ll get to hear him again soon.
