The LPGA season literally heated up yesterday at the Kraft Nabisco Championship. The temperature reached 101 degrees at Mission Hills Country Club as the ladies kicked off their first major of the season. Stacy Lewis and Brittany Lincicome handled the heat as they both shot 6 under 66’s. They lead Last week’s winner, Sandra Gal, and Mika Miyazato by one stroke.
Lincicome has three career LPGA wins including this championship in 2009. Lewis is still looking for her first LPGA win but she has become a player to be reckoned on tour. Lincicome played a flawless six birdie round while Lewis had a bogey to go along with her seven birdies. The two are friends and have grown close over the past year. Lincicome talked about their friendship,” Stacy’s been a great friend for a little while now. More lately I guess we’ve been getting a little closer, rooming together. If we don’t want our fathers or mothers to go to a tournament, we’ll stay together. But she’s just a really nice girl. We’re kind of the same age. (We are) very low maintenance both of us. So it’s very easygoing. I like to go to bed early and I take a nap every day, so she goes and works out while I nap and then I make her go to bed early, so it actually works out perfectly. But yeah, we went to dinner last night”.
