The Golf Channel, 24-7

by Jeff Skinner

For any golf fan The Golf Channel has become required viewing.  Every chance we get to watch more golf is a good thing and a good thing has become even better with all the resources The Golf Channel now has with its blending into the NBC/Universal family.  This weekend’s spotlight on The Bear Trap is just one example.

I have a hard time trying to convince my kids that ESPN hasn’t been around forever.  Now, it’s the same with The Golf Channel, it has become woven into the fabric that makes up all golfers.  Go into any golf club, pro shop or 19th Hole and you’ll see clubs, hats, balls, polo shirts, pictures of Jack and Arnie and golfers watching The Golf Channel.

The personalities on the Golf Channel have become our newsmen, instructors and friends.  While not every portion of the programming is classic (please, enough Donald Trump) most of it is at the least informative and at its best very entertaining.  It used to be ESPN and CNBC on all day in my house.  Now I have my priorities in order: The Golf Channel 24-7.

  1. I was just wondering why Mike Wier was never mentioned or televised on tsn today during the first round coverage of the Masters ? I always thought an even par finsh was very respectable..?

  2. HELLO AND CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY THE MASTERS DOES NOT START A 1:00 INSTEAD OF 3:30 FOR THESE 4 DAYS. THANK YOU.

  3. I turn the tv on to the Golf Channel to see info on this weeks tournament 7/1/2012. All I can hear for the first 15 minutes of viewing is only info about Tiger Woods. This is ridiculous!!! There are other players playing in the tournament and as a viewer I would like to hear something other than how Tiger Woods is performing. However, maybe Arnold Palmer and the Golf Channel have a large investment in Tiger Woods. I don’t know if you will listen to your viewers but if you would we would like to hear about all top players.

  4. I agree Bill…but your point is well taken. Anyone that earns money in professional golf has an investment in Tiger.
