Phil Mickelson Makes His Move at The Masters

by Jeff Skinner

After a tough day at The Masters yesterday Phil Mickelson said he was still in the hunt because even with his erratic driver he was still only two over par.  He said he thought he was playing so well that he had a six under round in his bag.  He wasn’t far off.

Phil hit more fairways and greens today and his putter stayed red hot as he carded a four under 68 to jump up the leaderboard and end the day at two under for a tie for twelfth.  He’s only three strokes back of the leaders, Couple and Dufner.

Phil seemed more in control of his ball today and when he keeps it in the short grass he is able to execute his plan and attack the greens.  Mickelson’s putter is one of the hottest at Augusta as he is averaging less than one and a half putts per hole.  And we all know that Phil’s short game is what allows him to close out tournaments.
