Snow & Ice No Problem at The Snow Golf Cup

by Jeff Skinner
With winter in full swing a good portion of us golfers have to make do with watching Rory, Tiger, Phil and the boys smack it around while we pray for spring. But not all golfers that live in the north are content with The Golf Channel and hopes of warmer weather.
The good people of the Engadine Golf Club in Switzerland braved the winter weather in their homeland for the 34th Snow Golf Cup. 80 golfers took part in this year’s tournament.
The challenge consists of nine holes over a course covered in snow and ice with holes measuring from 130 to 190 yards. Normal rules apply except the holes are cut larger than normal.
And it boasts an international field. In addition to the locals, players hailed from Italy, Germany and Austria. Winning score for the men was 32 gross/30 net and for the women was a gross/net of 33. Not bad for a frozen day on the links.
