Fun Friday for Phil Mickelson

by Jeff Skinner

There aren’t many things better than starting your weekend off on Friday with a great early morning round of golf.  Yes there is…coming home and watching Phil Mickelson work his magic on the course.  That’s just what I did today and watching Phil when he is on is almost as good as shooting a great round yourself, well almost.

Phil holds the lead at the Wells Fargo Championship and anyone that followed Phil around the Quail Hollow course certainly was entertained.

He could barely hit a fairway (5) and struggled hitting greens (12) but he scored like he made a deal with the devil.  His five under 67 tied for low round of the day and put him two clear of the field.

It was Phil’s putter and short game that propelled him into the lead as he sank anything he looked at and leads the field in strokes gained putting.

He saw plenty of the course as he sprayed his latest driver left and right and needed his patented recovery shots to put up that 67.

The video below is proof that Phil is a magician and while we like to say “these guys are good” that doesn’t do justice to Phil’s marvelous magic with the short clubs.
