Great news for Morning Drive fans and also for The Golf Channel. Ahmad Rashad is gone. All I can say is, “Thank God.”
For awhile now Morning Drive has been blessed by his absence and the show is so much better for it.
Rashad has moved on to the growing Back 9 Network and maybe they will have better luck with him. He never fit in with the cast of professionals that sat at the Morning Drive desk.
The crew on MD has evolved into a finely tuned machine. They all bring something to the table.
Gary Williams brings golf knowledge and excels as the lead chair. Damon Hack brings journalistic professionalism along with his “hackers” inquisitiveness. Charlie Rymer is a former pro and his self-deprecating style is a big hit. Kelly Tilghman is an old pro and even John Cook has adapted well to a teleprompter.
You have to bring something to the table besides weak Tiger Woods references and name dropping. Rashad brought zero to the Morning Drive. He repeatedly looked unprepared and unconcerned with the program.
He was a disaster from day one. And The Drive was unwatchable with him at the desk.
Good luck to Rashad and even more to The Back 9 Network.
