Martin Kaymer is 29 years old and from Dusseldorf, Germany.
He turned professional in 2005, joined the European Tour 2007 and the PGA Tour in 2010.
He won the 2010 PGA Championship and the 2014 PLAYERS Championship.
He has 10 European Tour victories (includes PGA) and 3 PGA Tour wins (including today’s U.S. Open).
He was number one in the world for six weeks in 2011.
Kaymer played on two Ryder Cups, in 2010 and 2012 where he sank the clinching putt for the European Team.
He once shot a 59 in a satellite tour event.
He is a member of Whisper Rock in Scottsdale, Arizona where two dozen professional golfers are members.
His previous best at the U.S. Open was a T8 in 2010.
His golfing heroes are is his fellow German Bernhard Langer and Ernie Els.
