Tiger Woods to Play Next Week

by Jeff Skinner

Surprise! Tiger Woods is back…much sooner than anticipated. From Tiger’s website:

Tournament host and 2009 and 2012 Quicken Loans National champion Tiger Woods is slated to compete at the 2014 Quicken Loans National at Congressional Country Club, June 23-29. Come watch the PGA TOUR’s best come to life and visit www.QLNational.com for ticket opportunities.

“After a lot of therapy, I have recovered well and will be supporting my foundation next week at the Quicken Loans National,” Woods said on his Facebook page. “I’ve just started to hit full shots, but it’s time to take the next step. I will be a bit rusty, but I want to play myself back into competitive shape. Excited for the challenge ahead.”

Woods last played in the WGC Cadillac Championship in early March. He then had back surgery on March 31st.

Since his departure the golf world has been busily anticipating Tiger’s return. Coming back next week at his tournament is surprising. His rehabilitation was expected to take longer but this is Tiger. His must heal quicker than the average human.

If he is fully healed than I say power to him and his tournament. If he is coming back before he is fully healed then it’s a mistake.

Hey, the game is always more interesting with Tiger in the mix. I just hope he’s in it for the right reason.
