Summer is heating up and so is golf”s major season. With the women teeing it up at the Women’s British Open the seniors are back in the act this week with another major, The U.S. Senior Open. The seniors return to Oak Tree Golf Course in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Plenty of these “old guys” are thrilled to be back at Oak Tree. Bob Tway and Scott Verplanck are members here and will definitely have a home field advantage. But Jeff Sluman may be the happiest about the return to Oak Tree. Sluman won his only major championship here in 1988 when he shot a sizzling 65 on Sunday to claim the 1988 PGA. Believe it or not, this marks his first return to the scene of his greatest victory.
Heck, he should have come back for a few rounds. I am sure PGA Champions get their green fees comped.
