Justin Rose Takes Scottish Open

by Jeff Skinner

Justin Rose continued his hot streak today as he walked away from the field at the Scottish Open. His final round 65 was bogey and stress free Rose and it gave him victories in consecutive starts as the last time he teed it up he won at Congressional at the Quicken Loans National.

His final round kept him two clear of Kristoffer Bronberg, moved him to number three in the world and should make him one of the favorites in this week’s Open Championship. An Open win would require Rose to extend his new winning streak to three starts and he’s game for the challenge.  rose scottish open

“It’s uncharted territory for me,” Rose said of consecutive victories. “I’ve never won two in a row, so I may as well keep the run going.”

He’ll be trying to do his best Phil Mickelson as last season Phil followed his Scottish Open win with his surprising Open Championship win.

“I haven’t had much luck in the Open,” he said, “so I thought I’d try and do a Phil this year and put [the Scottish Open] on my schedule.”

Rose has been very consistent this season. In his last seven PGA Tour starts he has three top tens, a T14 at The Masters, a T12 at the U.S. Open, the win at Congressional and a single missed cut. The form he displayed at Royal Aberdeen will suit him well as he tries for three in a row and his second and most desired major championship.
