Jack Nicklaus started his second career of designing golf courses long before he stopped playing golf professionally.
His Nicklaus Design company has projects in 39 countries. The Golden Bear himself has designed 290 courses and right now they have 45 projects underway in 24 countries.
He says China has the most potential for growing golf but also offers big problems.
He started designing to keep from getting bored when he was playing full time. I love his line, “Most people work all their life to retire to play golf. I played golf all my life to retire to work.”
He says he’ll never really retire and for all us Nicklaus fans that’s just fine with us.
