Patrick Reed Wins Hyundai Tournament of Champions

If you’re going to talk the talk you’ve got to walk the walk…as they say. Patrick Reed talks the talk.

Patrick Reed walks the walk.

At the Hyundai Tournament of Champions Reed started the final round two shots off the lead. On the fourteenth hole he was four shots back.

That’s when things got interesting at Kapalua.

Reed managed two birdies, a bogey and an amazing eagle over the last four holes and while he was walking his walk Jimmy Walker was tripping over his own two feet. ???????????????????????????

Some poor tee shots, a bogey on fourteen and an inability to card a birdie over the last eight holes, especially the birdie friendly eighteenth cost Walker his fourth PGA Tour win.

Instead of hoisting the hardware he went to a playoff where he airmailed his second shot into the bleachers guarding eighteen. After that all he could do was stand by in agony as the emboldened Reed poured in a 19 foot birdie putt for the win.

This is Reed’s fourth PGA Tour win and he is just 24. He joins Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia as the only player in the last 20 years to earn four wins before they turned 24 and a half.

His four wins are the most by any current PGA player under 25. Discounting the silly season Shark Shootout and the Hero World Challenger this is Reed’s fourth win in 31 starts.

Reed is a player, a hard-nosed, scrambling, chip on the shoulder, I am better than you, in your face player.

He’s earned the right to talk the talk.
