Tiger Woods Needs Less Thinking, More Swinging

On Wednesday Tiger Woods announced that he was taking time some time to work on his game.

The last two weeks have been very disappointing to me, especially Torrey, because I never want to withdraw. Unfortunately, lately injuries have made that happen too often.

This latest injury is not related to my previous surgery. I am having daily physical therapy and I am feeling better every day.

Right now, I need a lot of work on my game, and to still spend time with the people that are important to me. My play and scores, are not acceptable for tournament golf. Like I’ve said, I enter a tournament to compete at the highest level, and when I think I’m ready, I’ll be back. Next week I will practice at Medalist and at home getting ready for the rest of the year. I am committed to getting back to the pinnacle of my game. I’d like to play The Honda Classic — it’s a tournament in my hometown and it’s important to me — but I won’t be there unless my game is tournament-ready. That’s not fair to anyone. I do, however, expect to be playing again very soon.

I want to thank the fans in Phoenix and San Diego. They were amazing. I greatly appreciate everyone’s support.

Can this get any stranger? Tiger’s professional life hasn’t been in such disarray since his SUV met a fire hydrant.

I, like many golf followers are now more confused than ever.  tiger wmo hat

He wants to work on getting his game “tournament-ready” but also needs to “spend time with the people that are important to me.” Hmmm, so he jets off to see Lindsey.

His agent says his return is “not health dependent right now.” But he gets “daily physical therapy.”

He needs therapy all right but not physical.

It’s not his glutes not activating that is the problem. It is that his brain is over-activating. He needs a check up from the neck up.

It is the space between his ears that is the problem not his rear end. Previously he was the most mentally tough golfer in the game. Woods, like Jack Nicklaus were the only two golfers that could diagnose a swing flaw during a tournament round and fix it on the spot.

Now, Woods’ head is so filled with swing thoughts and technical garbage he has no clue what to do.

When I hear him say he is in between techniques or his glutes weren’t firing or it’s a process I am embarrassed for him. That’s a big part of the issue for the once most feared golfer in the world.

He went from the most intimidating golfer on the course to a freak show. His fellow players had to look away when he played it was so pathetic. You think Woods isn’t embarrassed? Damn right he is.

His game is embarrassing and so is his story.

He does need time away from tournament golf. But it is his head he needs to work on so much more than his swing.

He should try and forget every swing thought and technical instruction he has learned in the past five years. Go back to playing golf not thinking golf.

At his zenith he played a power game off the tee where he pounded it. His short game was better than anyone as used his unmatched touch around the greens.

You can’t measure touch on a TrackMan and you can’t think yourself into a swing.

Less thinking, more swinging is what we say. Woods should try it.
