10 Things I Think

1.  All right, I can’t take it anymore. That Omega watch commercial with Rory McIlroy has pushed me to the edge. Is it too much to ask for a different song or something from the Omega people? I’ve heard that so much I want to jump off one of those Dubai skyscrapers.  rory omega

2.  The Monday finish of the Honda Classic was the most exciting golf of the tournament. The weather certainly fouled up the weekend and the Monday golf while not the best golf in the world it made for a very exciting finish.

3.  There were so many lead changes over the final holes just about all of the leaders had a chance. But it was great to see Paddy Harrington finally get himself another win. It’s the second straight week that the 297th ranked player in the world won on the PGA Tour, James Hahn last week and Paddy this week.

4.  As heartwarming as it was to see Harrington’s redemptive win it is tough watching him play. Slow play doesn’t quite describe his pace. To call his pace of play glacial is an insult to glaciers everywhere.

5.  Ian Poulter had it won then self destructed, had it won again then self destructed again. He had five balls it the water during his final round. And he still had a chance at the end.

6.  It wasn’t just Poulter that was rinsing balls; everyone was getting in the action. There were so many balls in the water it could have been a Provincetown bath house.

7.  Daniel Berger put up a good fight for a 21 year old rookie. Birds on 17 and 18 got him to six under but maybe nerves got the better of him when he rinsed one on the second playoff hole. But the kid made his season and this early in the year that’s a good thing.

8.  The Bear Trap can’t be that hard. I watched Tommy from the Big Break play it in two under par last night on the Golf Channel. Come on you PGA Tour players, take a lesson.

9.  Lydia Ko continues to amaze with another professional win, her 10th at the New Zealand Women’s Open. I don’t know what is more impressive her record on the course or her nonchalant attitude towards her golf. It’s hard to tell if she has a pulse.

10.  Even though I enjoyed Paddy’s win I still have to call him out. Slow play to the max and the Colin Montgomerie Rabbit ears where he waited while anyone in a mile radius quieted down is a bit much. That is why people hate golf Paddy! Give us all a break and just swing!

  1. I must agree with you Jeff. Granted, these guys are under a lot of pressure, but they get paid millions to play golf. Not many pros miss greens from inside 180 yards. Even I know when I must carry water and only a bunker is behind the green, take more club! But it was a great finish.

  2. I love #6! This has one of your best lines ever with more balls in the water than a P town bath house.
You should be guesting on Morning Drive.

  3. Ha! I am waiting for Fox’s invite to hang with your girl Holly!
