J.B. Holmes Takes The Shell Houston Open

With The Shell Houston Open sitting in the spot right before The Masters it is easy for it to be overlooked. But today’s final round gave us some exciting golf as J.B. Holmes survived a three man playoff to win.

Holmes’ par on the second playoff hole was enough to beat Johnson Wagner and Jordan Spieth and continue Holmes’ very solid season.
With this win he has four top tens, including two second, five top 25 finishes and has pocketed $2,942,530.

Holmes started the day six shots off the lead and got right back in the mix with a scorching front nine which included seven birdies and five in a row. His 64 was the low round of the day and he had to wait quite awhile for the field to finish.

Wagner made a clutch birdie on the difficult eighteenth to tie Holmes and Spieth needed a great up and down for par to make it a threesome in extra holes.

Wagner’s clutch 25 footer.

Spieth’s impressive up and down.

Holmes closes it out.
