Finally…It’s Masters Week

MastersImagine a ten year old on Christmas Eve so filled with anticipation that he can hardly breathe, no less sleep. That’s the feeling we golf fans have to deal with for the next few days.

But there is hope, the end is in sight. This is Masters Week and in just three days we’ll be watching Arnie, Gary and Jack hit those oh so special opening tee shots.
The most anticipated and most written about event of the season can leave a golf fans head spinning with information overload. But as I see it any Masters info is good Masters info.

Here are some sites that I’ll be visiting with regularity all week.

Hands down the best site with daily updates and in depth reporting is just a chip shot form Augusta National, The Augusta Chronicle.  bubba drive chip n putt 15

It’s a great place for quality reporting like Scott Michaux’s piece on how winning a second green jacket and watching the Drive, Chip & Putt has changed the ever evolving Bubba Watson. “This year – if I want to be this person that I want to be and I want to grow the game of golf that’s helped me – instead of hiding it, let’s use this platform we’ve gotten. That’s why this year I went to my schools and tried to talk to the kids and just show that from even their small towns people are living their dream. That’s why this one’s different.”

And you can click here for “Fun Facts about The Masters.”  Some are well known but some will surprise you. Can you name the three former professional golfers that are Augusta National members? You’ll be surprised.

1960 mastersGolf.com shows us Augusta National From 4,000 Feet and also has Sports Illustrated’s 100 Best Masters Photos. Both are must sees and you’ll need some time once you get a look at some of these shots.

All of us fantasize about how we would play Augusta. What club we would hit into the par three twelfth and how we would draw it around the corner at thirteen (yea right) and of course how we would drain that birdie on the last for the win.  Well you need to get on the course first and Golf Digest shows us 7 Ways to Play Augusta National Without Becoming a Member.

Ever wonder how much cash the boys at Augusta make from a Masters? Ron Sirak tell us it’s about $29 million in profit but it could be triple that if they wanted to commercialize The Masters. Thankfully they are satisfied with putting on the best golf tournament on earth.

Of course Masters.com will be loaded with all things Masters and give yourself a bettors chance at predicting the winner with their Players Page where they give us all the stats from each players performance at Augusta.

Don’t forget that Masters.com will be streaming live video long before ESPN comes on the air at 2:00pm on Thursday.

And here they have a wonderful gallery with some great photos of the Drive, Chip and Putt competition.

Masters overload? No such thing! Bring it on…it’s the best week in golf.
