Rory McIlroy Wins at Match Play but Loses to 17 Year Old

Rory McIlroy may have had an easy time with the new and not so improved Jason Dufner in the first round of the WGC-Cadillac Match Play (he won 5&4) but he didn’t have it so easy earlier this week.

The number one golfer in the world was smoked by a 17 year old amateur when he challenged McIlroy to an arm wrestling match.

At a junior clinic in San Diego Brad Dalke figured he’d try his luck against Rory. Now, recently we have seen plenty of Rory and that chiseled body of his and even had a glimpse into his seriously crazy gym workout.

But Rors was no match for the jacked teenager. Maybe Rory wasn’t ready for the intensity of Dalke or maybe he didn’t want to risk injury or maybe he just wanted to give the kid the memory of a lifetime. I am not sure which it was but of this I am sure: Dalke is ripped and went home as the new hero among his boys.

Meanwhile back at the Match Play: Henrik Stenson was the highest seeded player (3) to lose as John Senden topped him in 19 holes. Justin Rose fell flat after his win at New Orleans and was the second highest ranked player (6) to lose in a 3&2 loss to Mark Leishman. Jordan Spieth beat Mikko Ilonen. Keegan Bradley wears the Goat Horns for the most lopsided defeat a 6&5 loss to Louis Oosthuizen.

The good news is with the format changes no one is going home yet and they’ll all have a chance for redemption on Thursday.
