Jack and Barbara Nicklaus have been the First Couple of Professional Golf forever. They’ve been married for 55 years and Jack readily admits he never could have had the career he did if it wasn’t for Barbara.
He’s called her “the heart and soul of every good decision we’ve made” and gives her much of the credit for his success.
The USGA has honored Barbara with their highest award, The Bobby Jones Award which is given to a person “ who emulates Jones’ spirit, his personal qualities and his attitude toward the game and its players.”
Jack received the award fifty years ago when Barbara was the model for a tour wife.
For decades the Nicklaus’ have pioneered dozens of charitable causes with the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami and Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation being the heart of their benevolent endeavors.
