More Links Golf…It Never Gets Old

Our tour of golf across the pond continues today with the Ricoh Women’s British Open from historic Turnberry.

For the past four weeks we have been treated to some wonderful golf from some amazing courses.

The tour of Great Britain started with the Scottish Open at Gullane then moved on to the Old course at St. Andrews. A quick trip inland for the Senior Open Championship at Sunningdale where we visited the only non-links course of the trip and now back to true links golf at one of the most famous links courses in the world.

Turnberry, on the west coast of Scotland gave us the iconic battle between Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus but is in the news more recently for its owner’s so called presidential campaign.

Yes, Donald Trump owns Turnberry but that is no reason for us not to enjoy another week of golf on these very hallowed links.

No trip to Turnberry would be complete without recalling Tom Watson’s incredible near miss in 2009. Watson was on the verge of the most amazing win in golf history but a poor bounce at the 72nd hole killed his chances and dashed the hopes of a billion golf fans.
