The results are in and some of the crew at Links Life Golf had as tough a time with Whistling Straits as Tiger Woods did.
The LLG PGA Championship Pick the Winner contest saw three knuckleheads out of the competition early as one of their picks missed the cut and were sent packing. A missed cut dooms any chance of winning and some of our faithful felt that pain early.
Lil Skins loves the entertaining Miguel Angel Jimenez and while the colorful Spaniard is fun to watch he wasn’t around for the weekend. Sometimes that man crush is too painful.
Big Dick went off the board with Tiger Woods as his dark horse and Tiger did him in. As Tiger was busy at home playing with the kids Big Dick was left to wonder what might have been.
The Greek had some great picks including Jordan Spieth, and a top notch dark horse in Brooks Koepka. But he was hoping Zach Johnson would ride that Open Championship high to another good finish. Unfortunately Zach was spent and so were The Greek’s hopes.
I went with Bubba Watson and four golfers I thought were the best golfers without a major and did indeed have winner Jason Day. But poor results from Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia were my downfall.
G.Rennie had a fine stable of picks actually selecting the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finishers. But he missed out on the winner, Jason Day and Day carried 149 points to anyone bold enough to select him. Close but no cigar.
Our winner was Gordo who not only picked Day to win but got great support from his dark horse Tony Finau. Justin Rose, Martin Kaymer and Bubba rounded out his team for an impressive 518 points. Nice job for a hockey player.
