Jason Day’s Streak Continues

The long, hot summer of Jason Day continues. And while the summer has cooled off, Day hasn’t one bit.day bmw

Day lapped the field today at the BMW Championship to finish with a six shot victory over Daniel Berger.

Day’s lead was never really threatened as he maintained at least a four shot lead and finished with a flourish with birdies at sixteen and eighteen.

The ’15 PGA Champion lead from wire to wire and earned his fourth win in his last six starts.

It was Day’s seventh PGA win and his second in this year’s FedEx Cup Playoffs which has propelled him to first place in the FedEx Cup standings.

Day is turning into a real closer. He has had ten 54 hole leads in his career and in each of his last three he has closed it out for the win.

Another fortuitous outcome of his mastery at the BMW is his ascension to the number one spot in the world rankings.

Day was very public about his goal of earning the top spot. “Yesterday and today were the toughest rounds I ever had to play in my entire life, just knowing that I had the opportunity to get to number one,” he said. “Stepping up and playing the way I did today was great, just to really understand what I put into my game to get to where I am today.”

Day has one more challenge ahead of him: The Tour Championship at East Lake next week.

Something tells me he’ll still be hot.
