Jordan Spieth: “I’m Not Really Sure What Happened”

Jordan Spieth was playing well this week at The WGC Dell Match Play Championships until he hit the range this morning.  Spieth had gone 3-0 and was paired against Louis  Oosthuizen who had looked just as impressive and shared Spieth’s 3-0 record.spieth louie wgc

Once Spieth started warming up this morning he realized his game had deserted him and he was slicing the ball.  Welcome to  the world of mere mortals Jordan.

“I was hitting some slices with my irons,” he said.  Just like the millions of everyday golfers that attempt this foolish game.

“I’m not really sure what happened” is a familiar refrain all of us hackers employ each time we screw up another round.

“I tried to fix it on the range,” he also said.  Who hasn’t tried that?  All of us.

Once he got to the course he was lost.  The only golfers I ever believed that could actually fix themselves on the course were Jack and Tiger.  And Jordan isn’t quite there yet.

But he closer to those two than he is to the rest of us 14 handicappers.

At least he showed he was human.  He’s just like the rest of us…well maybe just a little.
