Peter Alliss Calls Bulls**t on the R&A

Sometimes, most times if you are a conspiracy theorist, we never get the whole, true story…on just about any matter.  Today it’s golf, more specifically the women membership issue at the historic Muirfield Golf Club.  It seems that the male members have voted to keep the membership just that, all male and continue to exclude women from their membership rolls.alliss

Now the good old boys at the Royal and Ancient think this is politically incorrect and have pulled Muirfield, who has hosted the Open Championship sixteen times, from the Open Championship rota.  Hmm.

Peter Alliss, who knows more about Open Championship golf and the workings of all things golf in Britain says they are getting it all wrong.  And that the females that play regularly, and they do play often, wouldn’t dare want to be a member….because it would cost them money, serious money.

“The fact is, if you talked to the wives of members at Muirfield they would be horrified at the prospect of being allowed to join,” Alliss said. “The wives can use all the facilities at the club, but it doesn’t cost them anything. If they had to pay to join, they would be horrified.”

“I think it will be very sad if Muirfield didn’t host the Open Championship, because it is one of the best courses the Open is played on,” he said. “It is bull****.”

As usual, Alliss has his own take on things, and he’s probably right.
