The last three holes at Royal Troon starts with a birdie opportunity at the par 5, 554 yard sixteenth hole. In 2004 it played as the easiest hole on the course. A burn crosses the fairway and will challenge golfers to clear it with any wind at all. The large green is surrounded by those deep, painful bunkers.
The par 3 seventeenth normally faces into the wind and at 220 yards players may need a driver to have any chance of hitting the green.
A stout par 4 faces the players as they close out their round. At 458 yards a healthy, straight drive is critical as any wayward shot could find the rough or one of those round killing bunkers. Remember that just a few feet off the back of the green is out of bounds so players will have to factor that into any approach.
