Dustin Johnson continued his stellar play yesterday at the BMW Championship and turned his three shot lead into his 
margin of victory for his third win of the season.
He also may have positioned himself as the front runner for Player of the Year with a major (U.S. Open ) a WGC (Bridgestone) and now a FedEx Cup Playoff event.
The tag line for BMW, the cars, is “The Ultimate Driving Machine.” And that may as well be Johnson’s nickname also. He drives it a ton but this is a new and improved Dustin Johnson.
Unlike previous wins where DJ pounded his competitors and the course with his driver he added another Weapon Of Grass Destruction this week: a new putter.
He switched to a mallet, much like the one used by fellow TaylorMade player Jason Day and it has brought his putting to a new level.
This week he was number one in Strokes Gained Off the Tee, not an unusual place for him but he also topped the field in Strokes Gained Putting. That should make every player on the PGA Tour nervous.
Players spend a lifetime looking for “it”. DJ has found it…in a big way.
