Tiger Woods, or should I say the new Tiger Woods is talking. Woods who just announced the formation of his new 
Tiger Woods Ventures with his “TGR” logo looks to be out promoting his brand.
He spent some time with Charlie Rose and he’ll appear on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight.
Woods tells Rose that he doesn’t think he’ll finish with 18 majors. In true Woodsian fashion he says he’ll finish with more.
Tiger’s umpteenth comeback was stunted as he withdrew from the Safeway Open last week after thirty thousand additional tickets were sold after he said he was going to play. Bad move.
I actually think Tiger’s bad move was committing to play there in the first place. If he had any doubt at all he should have waited until December and his Hero World Challenge. He could have made his debut among all his buddies in a low key, silly season event and used that as his takeoff point for next season.
With his late entry into the Safeway and his even later withdrawal he comes off as selfish and to use the word he used to describe his game…he looks vulnerable.
Tiger should do all he can to promote his foundation and his brand but not at the expense of the thousand of fans who laid out cash to see him play and then pull a disappearing act.
No contrite press release or apology can make up for that.
