Golf In Paradise Can Warm Frozen North

It’s that time of year again. As we here in the Northeast brace for another bout of record cold temperatures our focus turns from extra sweaters and icy sidewalks to that classic winter tradition that warms all of us:golf from Hawaii.

We start the golfing year (this is he real start for me, unlike the PGA Tour) this week with the Sentry Tournament of Champions from the picturesque island of Maui and the iconic Plantation Course at Kapalua.justin toc

Most of last seasons winners will tee it up on Thursday and proceed to make all of us jealous as they wander about in paradise and we hover under another electric blanket.

Ah, such is the life of a golfer in the Northeast.

Justin Thomas the ’17 PGA champ, defends his TOC title and his Player of the Year season against some of the best in the game including his buddy Jordan Spieth (Open Champion), world number one Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka (U.S. Open Champion), Sergio Garcia (Masters Champion), along with Rickie Fowler, Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson.

It’s a winners only stacked field and sure to be fun to see the boys back on the course again. And the scenery alone is worth the watch.

Fire up the Golf Channel on Thursday at 6:00pm and settle in for some golf in paradise. And maybe grab another blanket and a scotch or two. That should help us get through this cold spell.
