THE PLAYERS Championship - Round Two

If you’re new to our course, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! The PGA Tour’s flagship event, The PLAYERS Championship always generates plenty of buzz. It’s always one of the best fields of the season and played on a course that generates as much controversy as Miguel Angel Jimenez vs. Keegan Bradley, maybe more. No, definitely more. TPC Sawgrass has been both praised and reviled and love it or hate it Pete Dye’s creation changed… Continue Reading

Good Stuff from The PLAYERS Championship

duval players

The PGA Tour likes to play up the fact that it gives tens of millions of dollars to charity each year. Tim Finchem and his cronies would like us all to think that the tour isn’t just a business, technically a non-profit business that consists of a bunch of one percenters flying around the country playing golf for a living and counting their millions. The truth is the PGA Tour does enable millions of dollars to go to good, effective… Continue Reading

Rory McIlroy Wins WGC Match Play

rory match play

Rory McIlroy earned his tenth PGA Tour win and second World Golf Championship with his 4 & 2 win over Gary Woodland.  Rory made a habit of getting behind in his early matches and then staging a late comeback for the win.  But he needed no such theatrics against Woodlawn as he cruised to victory. Rory references his Ryder Cup win over Rickie Fowler saying it gave him confidence in match play.  The Ryder Cup…it is never out of the… Continue Reading

Jack Nicklaus Is Now a Buffalo Bills Fan

o'leary ball

We all know that Jack Nicklaus loves his Ohio St. Buckeyes but I think the Golden Bear just became a big Buffalo Bills fan. Jack’s grandson, Nick O’Leary was selected by the Bills in the sixth round of the NFL Draft. The Florida State grad set records in college and won the John Mackey Award as the nation’s best tight end. Jack has spent plenty of time at all his grandchildren’s sporting events and it’s a safe bet his Gulfstream… Continue Reading

Super Fight Preliminary: Jimenez vs. Bradley

maj keegan

On the eve of what many are calling the biggest fight in boxing the boys of the PGA Tour put on a bout of their own at the WGC-Cadillac Match Play. In what amounts to a knockdown, drag out championship bout Keegan Bradley and Miguel Angel Jimenez went toe to toe and nose to nose in a heated exchange on the eighteenth hole yesterday. With Bradley’s ball near a temporary immovable obstruction he called a rules official over to help… Continue Reading

Rory McIlroy Wins at Match Play but Loses to 17 Year Old

rory arm wr

Rory McIlroy may have had an easy time with the new and not so improved Jason Dufner in the first round of the WGC-Cadillac Match Play (he won 5&4) but he didn’t have it so easy earlier this week. The number one golfer in the world was smoked by a 17 year old amateur when he challenged McIlroy to an arm wrestling match. At a junior clinic in San Diego Brad Dalke figured he’d try his luck against Rory. Now,… Continue Reading

New Format Marks WGC-Cadillac Match Play

wgc match play

Tomorrow marks a new era in the PGA Tour’s Match Play legacy when the WGC-Cadillac Match Play begins at Harding Park in San Frisco. After years of dealing with many big names losing early and therefore being left with some not so household names for the weekend the format has been restructured to insure that all players get at least three rounds of golf. The 64 golfers are broken down into sixteen different groups of four players. Each will play… Continue Reading

Monday Chip Shots

Lydia Ko

Lydia Ko just keeps adding to her legacy. That’s if it’s possible for an 18 year old to have a legacy. She celebrated her birthday over the weekend and promptly defends her title at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic. And she didn’t have her best stuff. Morgan Pressel had the tournament in hand and a two shot lead until two late bogeys did her in. That’s part of the game and for Ko just hanging around earned her another LPGA… Continue Reading

Gil Hanse: “Talking Is Overrated” Still Added to Fox Coverage

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

FOX Sports has announced its full cast of characters for its inaugural season of USGA coverage and from the looks of things they will have plenty of on air talent. In addition to Joe Buck, Greg Norman, Holly Sonders, Brad Faxon, David Fay, Corey Pavin and Juli Inkster FOX has added plenty of new names to their season long coverage of the USGA events, including the U.S. Open in June.  I count twenty new additions to the FOX Broadcast Team… Continue Reading
