Must Watch Golf…All Weekend

spieth singapore

Usually on Monday morning I’ll cruise through the all the golf sites to get the inside story from the weekend. But this morning, quite frankly my head is spinning. What a crazy golf weekend. And it’s not over as the boys of the PGA Tour still have to complete the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open. It was a smorgasbord of golf and we got to see golf 24 hours a day as the tournaments circled the globe. It… Continue Reading

About this time last year Jordan Spieth was still beaming from his win at the ’14 Australian Open and on his way to winning the Hero World Challenge. Well Spieth didn’t win last week’s Aussie Open, he just missed with a T2 finish but he did make a splash at today’s opening round of the Hero World Challenge. Watch as Spieth aces the par three second hole on his way to an opening round 65, one stroke off the lead.… Continue Reading

Jason’s Day at the PGA Championship

day trophy

At the 97th PGA Championship Jason Day proved to be too much for the All-American Kid Jordan Spieth who was trying to complete the All-American Slam. Let the puns begin: it was Jason’s Day. While the Australian Day could be tabbed as the Wonder from Down Under because of his nationality he could also wear that moniker for the fact that he has been so close, so often in majors we were wondering if he was ever going to finally… Continue Reading

Greg Norman Speaks

us open norman buck

Even though the U.S. Open is in the books the hangover still lingers. Especially on this weekend as we are once again treated to the Fox Sports coverage of the USGA’s U.S. Senior Open.  Joe Buck and Greg Norman may have received some knocks for their inaugural Open (Buck acted like a rookie, Norman said nothing as DJ lost it) but the two are back at it again as Tom Watson tries for his first Senior Open.  Norman who likes… Continue Reading

Golf Course Architecture Day at The USGA

Hanse's Rio Course

I am still recovering from shoulder surgery which has delayed the opening of my golf season for a few weeks. So when I had the opportunity to do something golf related that didn’t involve me taking a divot I took it. This past Saturday I headed down to the campus of the USGA in Far Hills, N.J. for their first Golf Course Architecture Symposium. Now, normally anything with symposium in the title usually has me heading in the other direction… Continue Reading

Lydia Ko Gets It

ko aussie open 15 close fist

Lydia Ko continues to be one of the best stories in sport. The seventeen year old already has two worldwide wins and two second place finishes this season and seems to break another record each times she wins.  The youngest ever number one golfer continues to amaze us each time she shows up. But it just isn’t on the course where she impresses us. It’s off the course also. Each of Ko’s performances is marked with patience and maturity, two… Continue Reading

Nice Bounce Finishes in An Albatross

alb

A hole in one is a rare sight. And an ace on a par four is rare indeed. Richard Green had that rare delight while playing in a pro-am on the PGA Australia Tour. His shot was headed for the bunker but got the most favorable of bounces. “I noticed the tee was up from where we played it last year, I thought it was a good opportunity to get up near the green and contend for birdies during the… Continue Reading

Greg Chalmers Tops Adam Scott in Playoff

chalmers swing

I was one of those demented fanatics that tuned into the Golf Channel on Saturday evening and into early Sunday morning, to get a look at Adam Scott and the Australian PGA Championship.  Like many I was hoping to see Scotty defend his title and maybe live vicariously through those fans that were getting tanned by the warm Australian sun. After all I’ve been frozen out of playing golf up here in the Northeast and any sun splashed golf, even… Continue Reading
