Spieth Just Continues to Amaze

spieth TOC

Jordan Spieth has picked up right where he left off from last year.  He sizzled again at Kapalua’s Plantation Course shooting an eight under 65 to get him to -24 and a five stroke lead over Brooks Koepka. On Friday Spieth joked how it would be great to get to 32 under par and beat Ernie Els’ tournament record by a shot.  But he did so with a smile on his face.  Well, The Golden Child, as buddy Justin Thomas… Continue Reading

Good Stuff from The PLAYERS Championship

duval players

The PGA Tour likes to play up the fact that it gives tens of millions of dollars to charity each year. Tim Finchem and his cronies would like us all to think that the tour isn’t just a business, technically a non-profit business that consists of a bunch of one percenters flying around the country playing golf for a living and counting their millions. The truth is the PGA Tour does enable millions of dollars to go to good, effective… Continue Reading

jb holmes shell

With The Shell Houston Open sitting in the spot right before The Masters it is easy for it to be overlooked. But today’s final round gave us some exciting golf as J.B. With this win he has four top tens, including two second, five top 25 finishes and has pocketed… Continue Reading

Chip Shots from the Arnold Palmer Invitational

Hoffmann-847-MichaelCohen

Morgan Hoffmann leads at Arnie’s Place and rightly so. He’s making birdies by the bunch, hitting greens and leading the field in putting. That will get you to -13 and a three stroke lead. Hoffmann fought off the distraction of his grandmother’s death right before the tournament and seems to have used it as motivation realizing there are more important things in life than birdies and bogeys. Karen Crouse profiles the New Jersey native who grew up hoping to spend… Continue Reading

spieth 2

That is why we watch the PGA Tour, plain and simple. The final round at The Valspar Championship was one heck of a Sunday. This was the best golfing Sunday on the PGA Tour since Rory McIlroy out dueled Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler in the dark at the PGA Championship. There were so many great shots and lead changes coming down the stretch it had the feel of a major championship. Jordan Spieth may have been the last man… Continue Reading

Erik Compton, Not Out of Anything Yet

by Jeff Skinner All week we have been carrying on about the new and improved Pinehurst and how the top players in the world will adjust to the different kind of U.S. Open that they have been presented with. Some haven’t received the new setup well and missed playing the weekend. Others, most notably Martin Kaymer who has a 5 stroke lead have adapted their games quite well. But today wasn’t just about birdies (scarce) and bogeys (plentiful). Erik Compton… Continue Reading

Phil Mickelson Not Discouraged

by Jeff Skinner Phil Mickelson continued his lackluster play today at the U.S. Open with a 2 over par 72. But with the very difficult conditions facing the players here at Pinehurst No. 2 he really wasn’t too disappointed. Under par won’t be in the cards for many today according to Mickelson. Phil thought the USGA may have put some pins in tough locations today to thwart another low score from happening in their Open. “Interesting day. A little different… Continue Reading

Lydia Ko Not Wasting Her Youth

by Jeff Skinner They say “youth is wasted on the young.”  Maybe so, but Lydia Ko hasn’t heard that one yet.  The just turned 17 year old continues her amazing career with another win on the LPGA Tour. Ko was in an all day battle with Stacy Lewis at The Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic.  Ko and Lewis had been paired together all week and Sunday was no different.  Lewis held a one stroke lead at the start and actually stretched… Continue Reading
