A Great Holiday Tradition: Prime Time Golf from Hawaii

kapalua18

The past few weeks have been full of family, food and fun as our holiday traditions started in mid December and spread right through to early January. It has been great and another of our traditions takes center stage this week: prime time golf from Hawaii. Oh, how I have come to treasure the PGA Tour’s early start in paradise at the SBS Tournament of Champions. It’s just the fix needed for a golf starved, house bound fanatic. I am… Continue Reading

The Fist Pump Is Back

tigerfistpump

It didn’t take long for Tiger Woods to start feeling like his ol’ bad ass self. Tiger took his game a step further today with his bogey free 7 under 65 that had him moving up the leaderboard at the Hero World Challenge and he even broke out his classic fist pump. His wasn’t the lowest round of the day, Bubba Watson had a 63, nor was it the second lowest, Brandt Snedeker shot 64 but for Woods who is… Continue Reading

Love Stands Pat, Clarke Mixes It Up for Saturday

rory-fist-16

The two Ryder Cup captains are both tasked with a difficult challenge to keep their team’s winning hopes alive. There are still twenty points to be earned over the weekend and Davis Love III and Darren Clarke have to find the right combination of pairings on this all important Saturday. Love is dealing from a position of strength with a two point lead and looks to be putting out what he thinks are his hot hands and stud pairings. He… Continue Reading

The FedEx Cup Playoffs Work

FECupPlayoffs_Prf_6c_Pos [Converted]

When the PGA Tour decided to revamp its schedule to try and institute their playoff system back in 2007 I wasn’t sold on their reasoning. The Tour had flourished over the last decades (thanks Tiger) and we had months and months of opportunities to watch the greatest golfers in the world. And while this “playoffs” mentality worked for the NFL I was doubting that it would work for golf. We had the best players in the world playing in all… Continue Reading

PGA Championship Picks…Glory’s Last Shot

pga balt

The PGA Championship starts today as we close out the major season a bit early. Those Olympics are screwing up everything…but that’s another rant. It wouldn’t be a major without the Links Life Golf Crew Picks so here we go. Fresh off his big win at the Open Championship is G. Rennie: So far this is the season of first time major winners and I think the trend is likely to continue. So my first three picks are from the… Continue Reading

Jhonattan Vegas Birdies His Way to a Win at the RBC Canadian Open

vegas canadian

Jhonattan Vegas came from five shots back of the lead to earn his second PGA Tour victory in a surprising win at the RBC Canadian Open. Third round leader Brandt Snedeker couldn’t hold on tho his one shot lead as Vegas got off to a hot start with five straight birdies starting at the second hole and finished just as hot with three straight birdies for a final round 64. He last won in 2011 but has found his game… Continue Reading

10 Things I Think & More….Open Championship Style

open 145th

1. The Open not only gave us a new major champion in Henrik Stenson but also a new cult hero. Andrew “Beef” Johnston with his furry, wild looking beard, healthy appetite and likable personality was also a winner at Royal Troon. The fans and the media loved him. He was just fun to watch. 2. The par three Postage Stamp doesn’t need anymore publicity, it’s a legendary hole. And watching the best golfers in the world need all their skills… Continue Reading

Butch Harmon Learned from the Best

butch smile

Butch Harmon has been voted the top golf instructor for what seems like forever. Few instructors/coaches/gurus, whatever you label them can boast such a heralded list of players that have heeded the gospel according to Butch. Of course there’s Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson and Greg Norman and Ernie Els and Freddy Couples. But there’s also Adam Scott, Davis Love III, Justin Rose, Stewart Cink, Rickie Fowler, Jimmy Walker, Lee Westwood, Dustin Johnson, Brandt Snedeker and Natalie Gulbis. And there… Continue Reading

Spieth Collapses…Willett Has the Time of His Life

Masters Champion Danny Willett of England during the Green Jacket Presentation after winning the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club on Sunday April 10, 2016.

Sunday at The Masters is always special and memorable and today’s final round was both for a myriad of reasons. With all the top players in the world playing so well coming into this week if just a few of them stayed in form the ’16 Masters was bound to be a good one. And the way things played out The Golden Child, Jordan Spieth was in the lead. His PGA Championship nemesis and world number one, Jason Day was… Continue Reading

Sunday at The Masters: It’s All Up to Jordan

masters flag hole

It’s been an odd week at Augusta National and The Masters. The usual roars and cheers have been replaced by gasps and murmurs. Last year we watched as Jordan Spieth went deep, real deep and tied Tiger Woods’s record winning score of 18 under par. This year he is only three under and the top four players stand a combined seven under par going into the final round. This has been one very difficult week at Augusta. Firm, very firm… Continue Reading
