A Love Story: Stacy Lewis & Arkansas

by Jeff Skinner The dream season on the LPGA Tour continued yesterday at the WalMart NW Arkansas Championship. Michelle Wie was the story early in the week with back to back 66’s but the week of celebration may have took its toll on the 2014 U.S. Open champion as she faded with a 73 and toppled down the leaderboard. But that left the stage open for a host of players to make a charge. And charge they did. Angela Stanford… Continue Reading

Patrick Reed Wins, Boasts He’s “A Top 5 Golfer”

by Jeff Skinner As a young golfer, Patrick Reed was inspired by Tiger Woods as most golfers of his generation were.  When he broke through with his first win at The Wyndham Championship last August he was dressed in a traditional Sunday Tiger-like outfit of red shirt and black pants.  Instantly, that became his Sunday outfit.  If it was good enough for Woods it was good enough for Reed. At the Humana Challenge in January Reed was in his Sunday… Continue Reading

Cristie Kerr Outlasts Pettersen at The Kingsmill Championship

by Jeff Skinner In what felt like a Solheim Cup pairing on the final day, Cristie Kerr and Suzann Pettersen battled their way around the River Course at the Kingsmill Championship with Kerr holding on for the playoff victory. The two Solheim Cup stalwarts and LPGA Tour heavyweights went head to head all day and finished regulation play at twelve under par. Kerr had started the day with a two stroke lead over Pettersen and Stacy Lewis but Pettersen’s bogey… Continue Reading

From PGA Tour.com: HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Graeme McDowell defeated fellow U.S. Open champ Webb Simpson in a playoff to win the RBC Heritage on Sunday for his second career victory on the PGA TOUR. McDowell was four shots behind when the round started, but rallied with a closing 69 over wind-blown Harbour Town Golf Links. Teenager Jutanugarn Triples 18 to Lose in Thailand

From LPGA.com: 2012 LPGA Official Money title winner and Vare Trophy winner Inbee Park got her 2013 season off to a hot start, capturing a one-shot victory at the Honda LPGA Thailand in her first event of the year. The victory came as a bit of a shock to Park as she trailed 17-year-old Thailand native Ariya Jutanugarn by two shots when she finished her round. But Park ended up with a one-stroke victory less than 15 minutes later when Jutanugarn… Continue Reading

PGA Tour 2011: So Far So Good

by Jeff Skinner With the first two months of the PGA Tour season in the books it’s time to take a look back at the best memories from the West Coast Swing.  I’ll take three great memories from the opening portion of the PGA Tour. At the Bob Hope Classic we saw the birth of a new phenomenon on tour, Johnny Vegas.  Whether you call him Jhonattan, Johnny or Johnny Vegas (spelling doesn’t matter) he was the best story on… Continue Reading

Mark Wilson, Player of the Year, So Far

by Jeff Skinner There was no Cinderella Story in the desert.  Tommy Two Gloves Gainey stumbled down the stretch as he put his drive in the water at the drivable 17th hole.  He then hit his chip to the green but it came up short and rolled back into the pond.  He was done but Mark Wilson still had some work to do.  Jason Dufner had birdied sixteen and seventeen to pull even with Wilson at eighteen under.  Wilson parred… Continue Reading

Molinari Tops Westwood at HSBC

by Jeff Skinner The final round of the HSBC Champions was basically a two man match play from the start.  Francesco Molinari was able to keep his lead over Westwood and capture his second career victory.  Molinari shot a very good five under 67 to hold off  Westwood who was playing in his first tournament since earning the top spot in The World Golf Rankings.  It has been a tremendous year for Italian golf.  Molinari joins his brother Edoardo and… Continue Reading

Rocco’s Eagle Has Landed

by Jeff Skinner There’s plenty of joy in Greensburg PA. today as their hometown boy Rocco Mediate has once again made his mark on The PGA Tour.  There are few players that are as popular as “The Rock” playing on tour and Rocco showed why yesterday.  He chatted and smiled his way around the course to his sixth career victory and astounded the fans by once again holing out from the fairway for an eagle. The Frys.com Open should consider… Continue Reading
