A Crazy Sports Weekend & Those Damn Patriots

rahm

It was a wild weekend for golf as we saw some big names earn wins around the globe. I spent too much time watching the Golf Channel at all hours of the night hoping to catch some great golf and I wasn’t disappointed. First up was ’17 Masters champ Sergio Garcia with a five shot win at the Asian Tour’s SMBC Singapore Open. Sergio is riding high as he carries that green jacket around and has a new-found confident, relaxed… Continue Reading

DJ Wins But Pat Perez Really Doesn’t Care

perez hips

Dustin Johnson looked to be in fine form this week as he lapped the winners only field at the Sentry Tournament of Champions by eight strokes. DJ was killing it all week as the wide fairways at Kapalua welcomed his mammoth drives and he rarely missed any shots. We are all familiar with the friendly confines of The Plantation Course as is DJ who won here for the second time and his seventeenth PGA win overall. But after the first… Continue Reading

Dustin Johnson Ties Leo Diegel

dj toc18

When Dustin Johnson feathered a feel wedge from 85 years to within 3 feet on the 3rd hole at Kapalua Sunday it seemed to me the tournament was all but over. His converted birdie gave him a four stroke lead which isn’t insurmountable on this Tour (especially when you think back to DJ’s last start where he squandered a six stroke lead in the final round). But today it just looked like he was going to run away and hide… Continue Reading

2018 Wish List

fowler phat

The PGA Tour starts in earnest today as The Sentry Tournament of Champions honors last seasons winners this week and is followed by 2018’s first full field event next week on Oahu at the Sony Open. I can’t help but hope for another trip to Hawaii sometime soon but for now I am left with just my hopes for the pro tours in 2018. Here are some things I am hoping we get to see this season. Can Rickie Fowler… Continue Reading

Search for Golf Weather Elusive

therm cold

It was 2 below zero when I woke up at my frozen Massachusetts home on the morning of  New Year’s Eve but I wasn’t fazed at all because I was headed for green pastures, warm ocean breezes and all the golf I could play. Florida here we come! My better half and I spent a brief, but lovely, layover on New Years’ Eve in Metro New York, enjoying holiday libations in the company of my brothers and sisters as we… Continue Reading

It’s been nearly a full year since I last posted here on Links Life Golf and it has been a year of learning for sure. Yes, you kind of become an instant expert on a condition that effects your family and try do anything to help… Continue Reading

Swafford Closes Fast to Win CareerBuilder Challenge

hud

With half a dozen players bunched at the top of the leaderboard of the CareerBuilder Challenge it looked like extra holes would keep some players from watching the NFL Playoffs. But Hudson Swafford is a big fan of the Atlanta Falcons and he wasn’t ready to miss his team try to get to their second Super Bowl. Swafford called a blitz coming down the stretch and he birdied three of his last four holes to pull ahead and eek out… Continue Reading

Happy Birthday Jack Nicklaus

jack n barbara

The Golden Bear turns 77 today and his plans are to play a little tennis, not golf and chill with the family. Sounds like a fine plan to me. As good as Jack was executing his shots on the course many say his real advantage was the mental side of his game. Jack’s ability to focus and maintain his game plan won him many a major. When Jack was at his best the saying went,’when Nicklaus stood on the tee… Continue Reading
