thomastrophy

The first PGA Tournament of 2017 is in the books and Justin Thomas has another notch on his belt with his win at the SBS Tournament of Champions. Thomas, just 23 is another of the young guns on tour that have taken over the PGA Tour. He held off the hottest player in the world, Hideki Matsuyama, who was shooting for his fourth straight world wide win. This is his third win but just is his first win on America… Continue Reading

Mentally Strong Johnson Wins U.S. Open

U.S. Open - Final Round

Dustin Johnson started the final round of the 116th U.S. Open four shots back of the leader Shane Lowry. He faced a challenge he had never yet accomplished: winning a major championship. Lowry had started the day on a hot streak as he finished up his third round with two birdies over his last four holes. If Lowry had his druthers he may have wanted to keep playing right there instead of taking the seven hour break to come back… Continue Reading

Rory McIlroy: One Satisfied Golfer

by Jeff Skinner Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia have been spending a lot of time together lately. Before teeing off together in the final round of the WGC Bridgestone Invitational we last saw them together as Rory held the Claret Jug aloft with Sergio, who finished tied for second, looking on. That was at the Open Championship where Rory put on a magnificent display and topped Sergio and Rickie Fowler. Unfortunately for Sergio his Sunday at Firestone ended the same… Continue Reading

Michelle Wie Leads an Exciting U.S. Women’s Open

by Jeff Skinner The 2014 golf season just keeps getting better for the LPGA. With new tournaments, new sponsors, fresh new faces and plenty of publicity the U.S. Women’s Open started with much anticipation. So far it hasn’t disappointed at all. With the women following the men at Pinehurst No.2 Mike Whan couldn’t have written a better script for the first two rounds. He should send the USGA a big thank you note. The week started with plenty of buzz… Continue Reading

Well, on Wednesday night we will all get the chance to see the really, really long balls as the Golf Channel will air the live finals of the RE/MAX World Long… Continue Reading

Power Packed, Wind Blown Leaderboard in Hawaii

by Jeff Skinner It may not be the way the PGA Tour wanted to start their season at The Tournament of Champions with play delayed by winds until Monday, a Tuesday finish and a reduced 54 hole tournament but this is the kind of leaderboard they envisioned.  Of course with all the players having won in 2012 most of the names are familiar but to have the “big guns” vying for the inaugural win of 2013 is a bonus for… Continue Reading

Jamie Sadlowski Tears Up The Golf Channel

by Jeff Skinner I caught The Morning Drive last week and watched as Gary Williams tried to challenge long drive champion Jamie Sadlowski to a little contest.  Well it didn’t work out for The Golf Channel as they have to repair their simulator because Jamie’s ball tore right through the screen. With a clubhead speed over 150 mph and a ball speed near 220mph the screen never had a chance.

LLG Awards Season: Comback Player of the Year

by Jeff Skinner For some reason the PGA Tour has elected not to award a Comeback Player of the Year but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any worthy candidates. There was a time when we all thought the only award that Tiger Woods would never have a chance of winning would be Comeback Player of the Year.  But we certainly know that Tiger has had plenty to come back from.  Woods finally broke through for his first win in three… Continue Reading

J.B. Holmes: Happy, Healthy & Giving Back

by Jeff Skinner The PGA Tour continues its final Fall Series this week at the Frys.com Open and many players are in California hoping to secure their tour cards for next season and some are padding their bank accounts.  And some are just happy to be playing golf again. J.B. Holmes is one of those golfers that has the luxury of having already secured his tour card for 2014 but he is also one of them that appreciates just being… Continue Reading
