Spieth’s Defeat More Mental Than Physical

spieth masters hat

Jordan Spieth may still be feeling the pain today from his final round disaster at The Masters. When you’re an elite golfer with his resolute mindset and you don’t preform it can sting for awhile. But he’ll be doing himself an great injustice if he continues to beat himself up for more that a day or two. Golf is hard. Tournament golf is harder. Major Championship golf is the hardest of all. And if he can remember back before the… Continue Reading

Another Tough Day at The Masters

spieth 16 masters

A funny thing happened on the way to that mano y mano matchup at The Masters between Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy, a U.S. Open broke out. Augusta National played so very tough again today with gusty winds and firm greens players were shaking their heads all day as they missed fairways, greens and plenty of putts.  Only five players broke par today: Smylie Kaufman (69) who is in second place, Bernhard Langer (70), third place, Jason Day (71) T5,… Continue Reading

Reversal of Fortune: Bubba Watson Wins 78th Masters Title

by Jeff Skinner Bubba Watson returned to Augusta National this week as a changed man.  And now after winning his second Masters title he’ll be changed even more. Watson did today what few men can do in this world: he held off the charge of youth.  Watson, 35 was paired with the 20 year old phenom Jordan Spieth who threatened to rewrite the Masters record book as the youngest winner in tournament history.  But youth was not served today as… Continue Reading

Bubba Watson Leads Another Tough Day at The Masters

by Jeff Skinner Augusta National played like Augusta National again today and frustrated many of the best golfers in the world.  Firm and fast greens seemed to be the demise of many of the big names as shot after shot looked to want to settle anywhere except on the green.  Statistically the course played slightly easier today with an average score of 74.08 compared to 74.47 yesterday.  But don’t ask Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson and Ernie Els if… Continue Reading

by Jeff Skinner By his own account Adam Scott was “playing like a dog” on Saturday but managed to salvage a one over 72.  On Sunday it was a different story as his Sunday charge 66 gave him The Barclays, his second win of the season and maybe with his Masters title the inside track on Player of the Year.
