No Worries…Jordan Spieth Is In Good Company

spieth hat tip

While Jason Day spent the weekend winning The PLAYERS and padding his lead over Jordan Spieth in the Official World Golf Rankings much of the golf world was wondering “What’s happened to Jordan?” Stuff happens…in life and in golf. Spieth’s play at The PLAYERS was indeed surprisingly poor but let’s not push the panic button just yet. Jason Day’s Impressive Win at The PLAYERS

day players trophy

Jason Day continued his dominating streak of golf today with his wire to wire win at The PLAYERS Championship. Since his win at the RBC Canadian Open last July Day has won in seven of his last seventeen starts. That’s a 41% victory rate, a number rarely seen in golf. It’s also his tenth PGA Tour win and that earns him membership in a special club. Since 1980 only four other players have won ten times before their 29th birthday:… Continue Reading

Day Leads PLAYERS after Record Tying 63

day players 16

The PLAYERS Championship opened just as one would expect…sort of. If you put the best golfer in the world on a firm fast course with soft greens and only a slight breeze he’s going to go low. But a 63…amazing. Jason Day played up to his ranking as the top golfer in the world and scorched TPC Sawgrass with a course record tying round that had him in the lead by two strokes on a day that let dozens of… Continue Reading

The PLAYERS: A “Major” Debate

players flag

The PLAYERS Championship starts today and if the finish can compare to last year’s Rickie Fowler coming out party we are in for a treat. But the debate still rages: Is The PLAYERS the fifth major? The PGA Tour’s marquee event has struggled to be held in major championship status to the consternation of Commissioner Tim Finchem. He has tried everything he could. The PLAYERS has the biggest purse in all of golf, $10.5 million with a cool $1.89 mil… Continue Reading

10 Things I Think

HahnTrophy-300

1. Talk about a feel good story…that’s what James Hahn’s come from behind win at the Wells Fargo was for sure. He hadn’t even sniffed a lead in months having missed eight straight cuts. In fact he hadn’t had a top ten since last October. 2. Hahn likes tough, old school golf courses. His first win came at Riviera last year and that was in a playoff also. He’s remembered by fans for dancing “Gangnam Style” at the sixteenth at… Continue Reading

A New Big 3? Not Just Yet

new big 3 4

The boys of the PGA Tour are taking a break this week from the FedEx Cup Playoffs but that hasn’t stopped the chatter about the New Big 3 or Big 4 depending on who is doing the chatting. Indeed the young bucks have laid claim to the 2015 season and have certainly made it a season to remember. Jordan Spieth with his Masters and U.S. Open wins had us on Grand Slam watch most of the summer and his near… Continue Reading

Rickie Fowler said he would like to make the Big 3 the Big 4.  He wants a piece of that action and he did all he could to earn his place today. Fowler played steady golf down the stretch at the Deutsche Bank and when leader Henrik Stenson rinsed his tee shot on the sixteenth hole Fowler was there to pounce on the lead. Fowler’s 68 was good enough to win the second leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs.  Paired… Continue Reading

Jordan Spieth Misses Cut…Stuff Happens

Spieth barclays rn2 pout

The sky is not falling. The world isn’t coming an end. Jordan Spieth just missed a cut. Spieth struggled to an opening round 74 at The Barclays and couldn’t get on track with a 73 today.
