2018 Wish List

fowler phat

The PGA Tour starts in earnest today as The Sentry Tournament of Champions honors last seasons winners this week and is followed by 2018’s first full field event next week on Oahu at the Sony Open. I can’t help but hope for another trip to Hawaii sometime soon but for now I am left with just my hopes for the pro tours in 2018. Here are some things I am hoping we get to see this season. Can Rickie Fowler… Continue Reading

Daniel Berger Holds Off Big Guns Wins FedEx St. Jude Classic

berger trophy

Daniel Berger had a great 2014-2015 season. His first on the PGA Tour, he played in 31 events, finished in the top 25 thirteen times, had six top tens, placed second on two occasions, made it all the way to the Tour Championship where he finished T12 and made over three million dollars. He was named Rookie of the Year. But he didn’t win. That all changed today as the twenty three year old tour sophomore played more like a… Continue Reading

10 Things I Think

oleson old course

 1. It was great getting another chance to see the old Course at St. Andrews again this weekend. I am sure Thorbjørn Olesen feels the same way. The Dane fought off the cold and a poor final round start to claim his second European tour title at The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. 2. I don’t know which is cooler the fact that “Thorbjørn” actually means Thunder Bear in Danish or that his nickname is Thor. Either way he has some… Continue Reading

Jordan Spieth Thrills with a Win at The Valspar Championship

spieth 2

That is why we watch the PGA Tour, plain and simple. The final round at The Valspar Championship was one heck of a Sunday. This was the best golfing Sunday on the PGA Tour since Rory McIlroy out dueled Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler in the dark at the PGA Championship. There were so many great shots and lead changes coming down the stretch it had the feel of a major championship. Jordan Spieth may have been the last man… Continue Reading

Exciting Final Weekend of Golf

lydia ko cme big

For die hard golf fans it was one heck of a weekend. If you were willing to do a little overnight and early morning viewing there was some exciting golf to watch. And if you could pull yourself away from NFL Sunday the ladies of the LPGA provided another thrilling finish to their dream season. I was one of the few, the proud, the crazies that had the Golf Channel on for what seemed like 48 straight hours.  Like many… Continue Reading

One Man Race: Jordan Spieth for Rookie of the Year

by Jeff Skinner It has been an incredible season for PGA Tour Rookie Jordan Spieth.  The youngster is a walking dream come true.  He started with no status on tour and earned his way onto the Presidents Cup Team. The PGA Tour has nominated three other golfers for the Rookie of the year Award but this is a one horse race.  Russell Henley, Derek Ernst and David Lingmerth had good, solid seasons but Spieth is in a class by himself.… Continue Reading

10 Things I Think…FedEx Cup Style

by Jeff Skinner 1.  Henrik Stenson picked the best possible time to get hot.  He didn’t start the’13 PGA Tour season hot but in July he was hitting his stride.  A second place at the Open was followed by a T2 at The Bridgestone and then a third at the PGA Championship.  His win at the Deutsche Bank catapulted him to the top of the FedEx Cup and he kept up his great play through the Tour Championship. 2.  … Continue Reading

Jordan Spieth Belongs on The Presidents Cup Team

by Jeff Skinner Jordan Spieth, the latest phenom on the PGA Tour this year, will be looking to make more history this week as the FedEx Cup Playoffs kick off at The Barclays. As if the just turned twenty year old needs to prove anything else.  He already has had the kind of season that many players can only dream of.  He starts with no status of any kind, plays on sponsor’s exemptions and parlays his starts into PGA Tour… Continue Reading

Raymond Floyd Speaks His Mind

by Jeff Skinner In the scheme of it all fifty years can seem like a blink of an eye while at the same time it could feel like a lifetime.  Fifty years ago Martin Luther King gave his “I have a dream” speech.  Fifty years ago the Beatles released “She Loves You” and the first James Bond film, “Dr. No” hit the theaters.  And on that fateful day in November President Kennedy was assassinated. The Vietnam War raged on as… Continue Reading
