Four Rounds, No Pain = Success for Tiger

tw-driver

Tiger Woods may have finished fifteenth out of eighteen golfers this week and stumbled with his final round 76 but as strange as it may sound his week at the Hero World Challenge was a success. True, Tiger always plays with the expectation of winning and would normally never consider looking up at fourteen golfers a successful week but it certainly was. Stats wise he was hitting the ball a long ways, finding plenty of fairways, stiffing his irons and… Continue Reading

Matsuyama Takes Hero World Challenge

hidekitrophy1268

The boys at NBC and The Golf Channel were hoping for a charge from Tiger Woods today at the Hero World Challenge but it was not to be. Woods was too far back to make it interesting and he had the poorest round of his comeback week. Hideki Matsuyama was the man instead as he continued his superb recent play and topped this elite field of golfers. Matsuyama finished his week with a one over 73 but that was enough… Continue Reading

The Fist Pump Is Back

tigerfistpump

It didn’t take long for Tiger Woods to start feeling like his ol’ bad ass self. Tiger took his game a step further today with his bogey free 7 under 65 that had him moving up the leaderboard at the Hero World Challenge and he even broke out his classic fist pump. His wasn’t the lowest round of the day, Bubba Watson had a 63, nor was it the second lowest, Brandt Snedeker shot 64 but for Woods who is… Continue Reading

Holmes Leads but All Eyes on Tiger at The Hero

tiger-hero-16-tm

J.B. Holmes was the real hero today in the Bahamas but of course it was Tiger Woods we all tuned in to see. Holmes leads the elite field at the Hero World Challenge after a smoking 8 under 64 which included seven birds an eagle and a lone bogey at the opening hole. An impressive display of late season golf for sure. But it was Woods that was the “star” of the show. Woods gave us a bit of everything,… Continue Reading

Tiger Woods Always Moves the Needle

tiger-smile

You may have stashed your clubs away for the winter and the calendar is certainly closer to St. Nick than St. Andrews but this is a big week in golf. No, it’s not a major or a playoff or anything close but this week Tiger Woods is back on the course. And that’s a big deal no matter what time of year it is. Tiger may be the host of his Hero World Challenge at the exclusive Albany Golf Club… Continue Reading

Tiger Woods Talks to Charlie Rose

tiger-tie

Tiger Woods, or should I say the new Tiger Woods is talking.  Woods who just announced the formation of his new Tiger Woods Ventures with his “TGR” logo looks to be out promoting his brand. He spent some time with Charlie Rose and he’ll appear on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight. Woods tells Rose that he doesn’t think he’ll finish with 18 majors.  In true Woodsian fashion he says he’ll finish with more. Tiger’s umpteenth comeback was stunted… Continue Reading

NASSAU, BAHAMAS - DECEMBER 03: Jordan Spieth of the United States (R) celebrates with Anirban Lahiri of India after a Spieth had a hole-in-one on the second hole during the first round of the Hero World Challenge at Albany, The Bahamas on December 3, 2015 in Nassau, Bahamas (Photo by Scott Halleran/Getty Images)

About this time last year Jordan Spieth was still beaming from his win at the ’14 Australian Open and on his way to winning the Hero World Challenge. Well Spieth didn’t win last week’s Aussie Open, he just missed with a T2 finish but he did make a splash at today’s opening round of the Hero World Challenge. Watch as Spieth aces the par three second hole on his way to an opening round 65, one stroke off the lead.… Continue Reading

An “Unburdened” Tiger Woods, Is the Chase Over?

tiger hero 15

The PGA Tour finally finishes out the 2015 calendar year this week as Tiger Woods comes off his couch to host the Hero World Challenge. The exclusive eighteen man event takes place at the even more exclusive Albany private community in the Bahamas as some big names vie for a nice holiday paycheck and a few world ranking points. How there are world ranking points at stake at such a limited field event is ludicrous but that’s another argument. This… Continue Reading

Two Tiger Tales

tiger face

It has been an entire week since I last posted on Tiger Woods. That has to be some kind of record. So here goes. Everyone has a theory as to what Woods needs to do to get his game back. More practice, less practice, new coach, old coach, play more, play less and my own solution: think less. The consensus is that his problems are more mental than physical but few are willing to voice what many are thinking: it… Continue Reading

Patrick Reed Wins Hyundai Tournament of Champions

patrick reed TOC 1

If you’re going to talk the talk you’ve got to walk the walk…as they say. Patrick Reed talks the talk. Patrick Reed walks the walk. At the Hyundai Tournament of Champions Reed started the final round two shots off the lead. On the fourteenth hole he was four shots back. That’s when things got interesting at Kapalua. Reed managed two birdies, a bogey and an amazing eagle over the last four holes and while he was walking his walk Jimmy… Continue Reading
