Dream Matches at The Presidents Cup

by Jeff Skinner

So far the Presidents Cup has been great. The atmosphere has been fairly relaxed and laid back. Couples and Norman don’t even have those earpieces stuck in their ears so they can hear updates from every match. Heck, Michael Jordan is spending more time running around from match to match than those guys. But, that’s a good thing. Let the players play and get out of the way is the way Jack Nicklaus used to captain these teams.

Here are some “dream” singles pairings for Sunday that would make it fun and interesting.

Kenny Perry vs Angel Cabrera: Kenny deserves another shot at Cabrera. It won’t be The Masters, but a little payback would be nice for Perry.

Anthony Kim vs Ryo Ishikawa: Kim was the hottest young golfer last year and Ishikawa is the teenage sensation of the year. They both hit it a ton and could give each other a great match.

Lucas Glover vs Ernie El: This year’s US Open Champ could take on Els with his two US Open wins. Tall and lean and long off the tee, they play similar games.

Phil Mickelson vs Vijay Singh: Old grudges die hard and these two had words years ago at The Masters. Vijay was upset that Phil was tearing up the greens with his metal spikes. With the way Phil has been playing, Vijay would need to step it up to stay close.

Tiger Woods vs Y.E. Yang: Does anyone think that Tiger wouldn’t want a shot at Yang. Woods loves to payback those that have slighted him. Yang gave Woods the ultimate insult when he beat him at the PGA Championship this year and shut him out of the majors. This would be an interesting one.
