Thomas Bjorn Wins Qatar Masters

by Jeff Skinner

After falling behind at the start of play, Thomas Bjorn stayed the course and managed to pull away from the field to win at the Qatar Masters.  Bjorn’s final round 69 was enough to keep him four shots clear of Alvaro Quiros who took second place.  Lee Westwood, who missed the cut was able to hold on to his top spot in the Official World Golf Rankings as Martin Kaymer could never shake the effects of his opening round 77 and finished tied for 28th.

Steve Stricker, playing the European Tour for the first time in sixteen years, tied for 45th in a disappointing return.  John Daly also made the cut but could manage no better than a tie for 63rd.
