Tommy Gainey and His Putter Lead The Wyndham Championship

by Jeff Skinner

Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey continued to work his magic at The Wyndham Championship.  Although he had trouble finding the fairway his putter and short game more than made up for it.  Gainey shot a 65 to back up his opening round 63 to get to twelve under and lead a quartet of golfers by three strokes.  He’s not sure where his driver is going but he is sure he can sink any putt.  Confidence like that wins championships.

Gainey realizes that its only two rounds, “It’s only two days and there’s a long way to go.  A lot can happen in two days.”  He’s right, a lot can happen in two days.  If Gainey manages to hang on and win it would complete one of the most unlikely success stories in the history of golf.
