Miyazato Shines in Hawaii

by Jeff Skinner

Ai Miyazato made herself at home on the island of Oahu this week and is going home with a very nice souvenir.  Miyazato was able to wear down the field at The Lotte Championship at Ko Olina Golf Club to claim her first win of the season.

She had a three stroke lead going into the final round but lost her lead to Meena Lee halfway through the round.  She was able to pull ahead of Lee with a birdie at 15 and when Lee three putted the 18th after blasting out from a bunker Miyazato had the cushion she needed.

Miyazato played clutch golf down the stretch as she birdied three of her last six holes.  The personable 26 year old captured her eighth career LPGA victory and is currently eight in the Rolex World Rankings.

Lee and 2010 Rookie of the Year Azahara Munoz tied for second place for strokes back of Miyazato.

World number one, Yani Tseng finished tie for tenth to continue her streak of top ten finishes in all seven of the LPGA events this season.
