Kuchar Adds Another at The Memorial

by Jeff Skinner

With Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy struggling all week at The Memorial the field was wide open for someone to claim this prestigious event.   Smiling Matt Kuchar, who struggled last week on Sunday, had no such problem today as he played steady golf to claim his six career win and add his names to the illustrious winners at Jack Nicklaus’ Muirfield village.

Kuchar had stretched his lead to four shots but a streaking Kevin Chappell made it interesting at the end.  The third year PGA Tour player birdied four of his last six holes to cut Kuchar’s lead to two.  But Kuchar matched Chappell’s birdie at the last to put this championship to bed.

Kuchar was thrilled to win at Nicklaus’ place, “This is such an amazing feeling.  This never gets old.  To have Jack Nicklaus congratulate me is a real treat. This is as special as it gets.”
